Money became personal for me at a young age.
Two days after my 16th birthday, my dad passed away. Losing him was hard enough, but watching my mom carry the financial pressure that followed left a lasting mark on me. I learned early that money is not just about numbers, investments, or accounts. It is about protection, responsibility, family, and the people left behind when life does not go according to plan.
That experience shaped how I think about my own family today. As a husband and father, I care deeply about building something strong enough to protect, support, and serve the people I love.
In 2011, my friend Richard handed me a copy of Becoming Your Own Banker by R. Nelson Nash. That book started me on a new personal journey in how I viewed and handled money. It challenged the way I thought about cash flow, savings, debt, financing, protection, and long-term control. More importantly, it gave me language and structure for something I had cared about since I was 16: how families can build more control before life forces them to need it.
Since then, my family and I have continued building our own system. When my wife and I got married, we added policies on her. As our family grew, we added policies on our daughters, and we have continued learning how to use the system in real life. Over the years, we have used our policies for vehicle purchases, home renovations, business expenses, family trips, tax bills, car insurance, and other major expenses that most families face along the way
Infinite Banking is not just an idea I explain to clients. It is something my own family has been learning, practicing, and growing into over time. It has helped us think differently about how money moves through our home, how we prepare for opportunities, how we handle expenses, and how we build with the next generation in mind.
Before joining the team at Ascendant, I worked almost 2 decades in the construction industry and spent 10 years working for a nonprofit, serving youth, families, and my local community. I saw how much pressure people carry quietly. The financial stress, family responsibilities, uncertainty about the future, and the desire to do more for the people they love.
When the opportunity arose to help others discover the Infinite Banking Concept, I jumped at the chance. Today, I help families, business owners, and nonprofits think differently about money through principles that have shaped my own life and family. My goal is to make the process clear, practical, and personal, so clients can build more control over their cash flow, protect what matters, and make long-term decisions with greater confidence.
For me, this work is about more than financial products. It is about family, stewardship, responsibility, and helping people build a better financial future with intention for their families and their business’.
I currently live just outside of Edmonton in the town of Stony Plain with my wife, two daughters, and son. When I am not spending time with family and friends or helping others discover the power of Infinite Banking, you can find me running, meeting new people, reading a good book, or involved at my local church.
